The Razors Edge Concaves have completely changed how we run our combine. The grain flows smoothly through the machine, letting us take in more crop and run faster without any machine loss. We used to have the standard round bars overloading one side — now the grain is evenly distributed.

The spacing allows larger-seeded crops to fall through, but it's also aggressive enough to thresh out the harder-thresh crops like durum and flax.

Our first year with the Thunderstruck Ag Concaves we were happy with what we saw. In large green lentils they did a very nice clean job with pretty much zero damage, and in durum they did probably the best job of what we were running. Canola samples were clean too — overall we were happy.

Sample quality has been no problem. Our wheat sample was on par with a competitor product running three cover plates — with no cover plates. On nine different soybean varieties our samples have been great, again running no cover plates.

The Razors Edge concaves have been a game-changer for us this harvest season. Adjustments are quick and simple, saving us time without the hassle of cover plates. The clean sample we're getting, even with mixed dry and green beans, has been impressive — and we haven't faced any plugging issues like before.

The design, with progressively wider openings toward the back, has significantly improved grain flow and made the combine perform better. I no longer have to change concaves or deal with cover plates. The even grain distribution across the pan is a big improvement, especially compared to the overload I used to get on the right side.

Grain-on-grain threshing with the Razor's Edge concaves has been a game changer. Running the rotor slower and allowing the concaves to be a little wider, the process is much gentler on the grain. This has significantly reduced grain damage and improved overall quality.

The build quality is very good. They're heavy. They seem to last really good — the edges are staying sharp over all the acres we've done. So far, so good.

The Razors Edge are definitely a huge improvement over the OEMs. Wider concave spacing increased capacity, and we're not having to change throughout the seasons. We put them in at the beginning of the year and ran throughout the whole year with no issues.

For the time I've owned this combine, I have never been able to put out as many whole cobs out the back end of the machine. When I look at having whole cobs coming out and they're all threshed, we're getting everything we can from the corn as gently and safely as we possibly can.

The sample quality is excellent. We've actually had to lower fan speeds to dirty up the sample, if anything. They run a real clean sample.

We use the Razors Edge in high-moisture corn, dry corn, and soybeans. In corn the biggest thing we noticed was less fines and a cleaner sample. In beans, in a dry, variable year, we didn't have to add any cover plates to get our pods opened up — which normally we would have.

The Razors Edge Concave is gentle on crops because they're aggressive enough to do the threshing, but you can open up your machine a little more than with standard concaves and slow the rotors down. You can do a really good, gentle job on everything and still have enough thresh ability to get everything clean, separated and threshed.
